Our History

3 Bar Ranch has been family-owned and operated since 2008.  On almost 700 acres of land, we have populations of American Bison, Elk, Red Stag, Fallow Deer, Blackbuck, Antelope, Whitetail Deer, Llamas, and one miniature Sicilian Donkey named Lilly, all kept on our high fenced ranch.   

When the ranch was purchased, 12 bison came with the land.  By 2015 the herd had grown to 40+ animals. Eager to properly manage this beautiful, prehistoric mammal, we hired a bison consultant who educated our family and ranch employees on how to raise and market bison. In 2017, construction began on our bison sized handling facilities and by 2018, the corral was humanely and effectively moving bison through for our first ever working event. Our bison are wormed, tagged, documented with gender, weight, production, and full detailed records of any offspring. All animals are raised from birth, are free roaming, and rotated every 30 days from pasture to pasture.

For awhile, we performed strictly as a cow-calf operation as our first method of herd management. In 2020, COVID impacted our operations of selling live animals.  Due to the remarkable growth of our bison population by late 2021, we decided to expand our approach to herd management to include the sale of processed meat, as well as other bison products, creating 3 Bar Bison, LLC.  Harvesting and selling bison meat is now only carried out in small batches. We are able to tell you when the animal was born, how it lived, what it ate, when it was it's time to go and why.
